Beach in Sopot is a sand beach on the Gdansk Bay coast that runs along the full length of the town. It is wide and open, with soft sand, and has multiple access points from the nearby park and coastal path.
The beach gained attention in the early 1800s when Dr. Haffner chose this spot to establish a seaside health resort. His belief in the healing effect of sea bathing transformed Sopot from a small fishing village into a destination for rest and recovery.
The northern end of the beach, near the border with Gdynia, draws visitors who want a quieter spot away from the main crowds. A well-known restaurant called Bulaj sits nearby, making it a natural stop after a long walk along the shore.
The beach fills up quickly on summer days, so arriving early gives you a better chance of finding a comfortable spot. There is little shade on the sand, so bringing sun protection is a good idea.
In the past, strict rules separated men and women into different bathing zones along this beach. Unmarried couples who entered the water together could face punishment under those rules.
