Hluboká nad Vltavou

Hluboká nad Vltavou is a town centered around a castle that sits along the Vltava River in South Bohemia. The settlement spreads across gently rolling terrain dotted with ponds and lakes that shape its character.

The settlement first appeared in historical records in the early 12. century as a community along the Vltava. The Schwarzenberg family took control in the mid-1600s and transformed the castle into their grand residence.

The castle houses a museum focused on forestry, hunting, and fishing that displays collections showing how deeply these activities shaped local life and traditions. Through the exhibits, visitors can see how much people here valued their connection to the surrounding forests and rivers.

The town links to surrounding areas through well-developed roads and railway connections, making it accessible by various transport modes. Spring and autumn offer pleasant conditions for exploring the castle and walking around the ponds without crowds.
