Port Royal School

Port Royal School is a two-story building from 1911 designed in Colonial Revival style by architects Wilson and Sompayrac. A brick addition in modern style was built on the northern side during the 1950s to expand the facility.

The building was constructed in 1911 and ranks among the oldest active elementary school structures in South Carolina. It operated for more than 50 years and witnessed significant changes in local education.

The school building shows how education shaped the community over many decades. Visitors can see how the spaces were designed for teaching and learning, reflecting the way schools worked in different time periods.
