Mystic Rock, Golf course in Farmington, Pennsylvania, US
Mystic Rock is a championship golf course stretching about 7526 yards through the Laurel Highlands landscape with 18 holes featuring large bunkers and rolling greens. Significant elevation changes across the property add to the overall difficulty.
Designer Pete Dye created this championship course in 1995 as part of the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, which Joseph Hardy III had acquired in 1987. The course was built during a period when luxury resorts were expanding their golf facilities.
The course gained national recognition by hosting the 84 Lumber Classic PGA Tour event from 2003 to 2006, which brought professional golfers and spectators to the region. This series of tournaments raised the profile of the facility significantly.
The course rating of 77 and slope rating of 149 indicate advanced difficulty, though multiple tee positions allow players to select distances that match their skill level. Visitors should assess their abilities before attempting this challenging layout.
The twelfth hole features two separate greens used on alternating days, changing the course layout with each visit. The fifth hole impresses with a waterfall and a statue of John Daly, adding a memorable visual element to the round.
