Marciano Art Foundation, Contemporary art museum in Los Angeles, United States.
The Marciano Art Foundation is a contemporary art museum in Los Angeles, housed in a former Masonic temple that was converted into gallery spaces spread across four floors. The building combines the original temple structure with open exhibition areas designed to display large-scale works.
The foundation opened in 2017, when Maurice and Paul Marciano, founders of the Guess clothing brand, converted a Scottish Rite Masonic temple that had sat unused for years. The brothers acquired the building and brought it back into use as a public art space.
The collection brings together work by artists from many countries, with a strong presence of Los Angeles-based creators alongside internationally recognized names. Rotating exhibitions mean that each visit offers something different from the last.
Entry is managed through a reservation system, so booking ahead is the best way to secure a spot. The museum temporarily closed in 2019 and has since changed how it operates, so checking current opening hours before visiting is a good idea.
The building still displays many of its original Masonic details, including exterior mosaics and sculptures that are visible as soon as you approach the entrance. These elements were not removed during the conversion and remain a visible part of the space today.
