Velaslavasay Panorama, Cinema and cyclorama museum in West Adams, Los Angeles, United States.
Velaslavasay Panorama is a cinema and cyclorama museum housed in a 1920s silent film theater in West Adams. The space displays full-circle painted scenes that surround viewers alongside film screenings and digital projections.
The museum was founded in 2000 on Hollywood Boulevard but moved to the Union Theatre building in 2004 to escape construction plans threatening the original location. This relocation allowed the space to establish a permanent home for the art form.
The paintings inside show how people once told stories through panoramic images, a method of art that connected people across centuries before other forms of media existed.
The space welcomes visitors Friday through Sunday with rotating exhibitions and film showings throughout the day. Check ahead for showtimes since screenings happen at set times during your visit.
The museum's garden grew from what was once an asphalt parking lot and now holds carnivorous plants that extend the artistic experience outdoors. This transformed outdoor space offers an unexpected living complement to the painted scenes inside.
