Entertainment and Sports Arena, Sports and event venue in Congress Heights, United States
Entertainment and Sports Arena is a multipurpose hall in Congress Heights, a neighborhood in southeast Washington. The facility includes a main hall with room for more than 4,000 spectators and separate training spaces used throughout the year.
The hall was built between 2016 and 2018 as part of a redevelopment project for Congress Heights and opened in autumn 2018. Its creation aimed to bring sports and entertainment to a neighborhood that had long lacked large public facilities.
The home court hosts the Mystics, one of the most successful women's basketball franchises in the league, along with the Go-Go, the Wizards' farm team. On game nights the stands fill with neighborhood fans who appreciate a closer atmosphere than larger arenas offer.
The hall sits a short walk from Congress Heights Metro station and prohibits bags during events. Seating is adjusted depending on the type of event, from basketball to concerts and combat sports nights.
The Wizards use the hall regularly for training sessions away from their main stadium, which allows visitors to occasionally watch professional players at work. On some evenings the space transforms into a stage for musicians and combat athletes, giving the site a versatile character.
