Pasir Gudang

Pasir Gudang is an industrial port city in Johor State, Malaysia, with major port facilities, petrochemical plants, and manufacturing zones forming a central economic hub. Multiple settlements merged together to create the current urban area that handles significant cargo operations.

The area originated from Kampung Pasir Udang, founded in 1918 by Long Abu from Riau, Indonesia. Over time, the settlement gradually transformed into the modern industrial port city visible today.

The International Kite Festival draws visitors to Kite Hill each year, where traditional and modern designs are displayed at Malaysia's first kite museum. The event reflects how local craftspeople continue practicing their skills through this annual celebration.

The city is connected by Pasir Gudang Highway to Johor Port and Tanjung Langsat Port, making transportation straightforward for visitors. Keep in mind the area is primarily industrial, so public access to certain zones may be limited.

The name comes from sand warehousing operations that exported construction materials to Singapore during the mid-nineteenth century. This origin as a trading hub continues to shape the city's economic activity today.
