Universiti Teknologi MARA, Public university in Shah Alam, Malaysia.
Universiti Teknologi MARA is a public university in Shah Alam, Malaysia, with 34 campuses nationwide offering more than 500 degree programs in engineering, business, arts and sciences. The main Shah Alam campus spreads across a large site with lecture buildings, research centers, libraries and residential halls connected by paved pathways and green spaces.
The institution began in 1956 as RIDA Training Centre with 50 students focused on rural development programs. It was renamed Institut Teknologi MARA in 1967 and gained university status in 1999, which expanded its academic departments and campus locations significantly.
The Shah Alam campus features open architecture with wide walkways that pass through shaded green areas where students linger between lectures. Faculty buildings cluster around central squares where study groups gather and presentations take place, while the cafeteria serves regional dishes daily.
Visitors reach the campus by public bus or rideshare, as the site has multiple entrances with security personnel. Administration buildings sit centrally, while the library and computer rooms remain accessible on weekdays from early morning until late evening so students can work outside class hours.
The campus houses a special collection of manuscripts and archive documents that record the development of technical education in Malaysia since the mid-20th century. Some faculties operate their own galleries and exhibition spaces where student work and research projects are presented to the public.
