Supe District, Administrative district in Barranca Province, Peru
The district extends over 516 square kilometers along the north-central coast of Peru, containing both agricultural lands and coastal areas.
The district, established on January 2, 1857 under President Ramon Castilla's administration, holds the ancient city of Caral within its boundaries.
The residents of Supe District maintain connections to their heritage through Caral, which represents one of the origins of Peruvian civilization.
The district capital, Supe town, sits at an elevation of 45 meters above sea level and maintains a population of approximately 24,000 residents.
The district contains several archaeological sites including Chupacigarro, Lurihuasi, and Miraya, forming part of the ancient Norte Chico civilization.
