The Emirate of Fujairah stretches along 90 kilometers of coastline on the Gulf of Oman, surrounded by the Hajar Mountains and sandy beaches.
The territory gained independence from Sharjah in 1901 when Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah Al Sharqi established his leadership, although British recognition came later.
Local residents maintain traditional practices through regular events featuring regional music performances, traditional bull fights, and handicraft exhibitions.
The Sheikh Khalifa Highway connects Fujairah to other emirates, while the international airport and seaport facilitate transportation for visitors and commerce.
The emirate stands as the only administrative region in the UAE without oil reserves, focusing instead on maritime trade and tourism for economic development.
