Al Fulayyah

Al Fulayyah is a fortified structure in Ras Al Khaimah with thick stone walls and watchtowers rising above the surrounding terrain. The building displays typical defensive features including multiple interior chambers and narrow passages designed for military control.

The fort developed during the early period of regional expansion and served as a strategic point for controlling local waterways. Its role shifted over time between military and administrative functions.

The structure represents a significant example of 18th-century military engineering techniques used throughout the Arabian Peninsula region.

You can explore the site on foot and look inside the different rooms that give you a sense of life during its military past. The best time to visit is during the cooler hours of the day when the sun is not directly heating the stone walls.

The fort served as a summer residence for the Al Qasimi ruling family while maintaining its role as a strategic military position.
