Hatta Fort

Hatta Fort is a military fort in Hatta village with walls made of stone and mud bricks, traditional watchtowers, and several interior rooms. The structure shows old Emirati building techniques and the defense methods that were used to protect the settlement.

The fort was built in 1896 and served as a defensive structure and residence for the ruling family. The area came under Dubai's control around 1850 after being governed by Oman for a long time.

The fort displays traditional weapons, pottery, and household items that show how people lived in past generations. These objects give you a sense of daily routines and the way families organized their homes back then.

You can visit the fort daily from 8 AM to 6 PM, with guided tours available in several languages. The information desk in the center can help you with questions and give you guidance as you explore the site.

The fort has a sophisticated water management system with underground channels that collected and distributed rainwater. This system allowed people living there to survive in the dry region by capturing every drop of rain.
