Dubai Textile Souk, Traditional textile market in Bur Dubai, United Arab Emirates

The Dubai Textile Souk is a fabric market in Bur Dubai with small shops stacked with materials from floor to ceiling. The selection includes silk, cotton, wool, and embroidered fabrics from local and international sources.

The textile trade at this location grew substantially starting in the 1820s, supported by British protection, and made Dubai a major commercial center in the Persian Gulf. This trade formed the economic foundation of the city for generations to come.

Bur Dubai's Indian and Pakistani trader community left visible marks around the souk: Hindi Lane, a row of small Indian shops selling bindis, bangles, flowers and saris, and Al Fahidi Street, where vendors mainly sell Indian clothes, shoes and jewellery. Pakistani pashminas and salwar kameez are also sold here.

The market is near the Al Fahidi metro station and is also reachable by abra boats across Dubai Creek. The best time to visit is early morning or evening when it is less hot and the place feels less crowded.

The souk sits a street away from Souk Al Kabeer, also called Meena Bazaar, and beside it are the Grand Mosque and Dubai's only Hindu temple. Its address is 57, Ali Bin Abi Talib Street, opposite the abra landing. Nearby Hindi Lane holds small Indian shops selling bindis, bangles, flowers and saris.
