Dubai Gold Souk, Traditional marketplace in Deira district, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Dubai Gold Souk is a marketplace in the old quarter with more than 300 jewelry shops lining covered walkways side by side. The stores sit close together with brightly lit windows displaying a wide range of gold items and jewelry pieces.
The market began in the 1940s as a small trading post and grew into one of the Middle East's largest gold centers. This growth was tied to the region's expansion as a major trading hub.
The market reflects how gold shopping is woven into local traditions, where haggling over prices is an expected and valued part of the buying experience. People from across the region come here as much for the social ritual as for the jewelry itself.
The souk is easy to reach by metro at Al Ras station or by buses in the area. It operates daily from 9 AM to 9 PM, and while there is plenty of ground to cover, it can get crowded during peak hours.
At any moment, roughly 10 tons of gold sits within the market, a striking amount that shows its economic weight. The space is also home to an exceptionally large gold ring that draws visitors from around the world.
