Maja e Kollatës, Mountain summit in Kukës County, Albania
Maja e Kollatë is a mountain summit in the Prokletije range of the Dinaric Alps at approximately 2,556 meters elevation with steep limestone slopes. The terrain features rugged formations characteristic of this alpine system.
The summit remained largely unexplored until recently, with its first documented ascent occurring in 2019. Since then it has gradually attracted climbers from the region.
Local mountain communities in the area practice traditional shepherding during summer months, using the surrounding alpine meadows for their herds. These customs remain visible throughout the grazing season.
Climbers should bring specialized mountaineering equipment and plan visits during August when weather tends to be more favorable. Proper preparation and physical fitness are needed for a safe ascent.
From the summit, clear weather offers views spanning three countries: Albania, Montenegro, and Kosovo. The clearest visibility typically occurs during early morning hours before clouds form over the ridges.
