Kavango–Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area

The conservation area extends across five countries, covering the Upper Zambezi River basin and Okavango Delta across 520,000 square kilometers of land.

Ministers from Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe met in Katima Mulilo during 2003 to establish this cross-border conservation initiative.

The protected territory integrates multiple national parks, including Chobe, Hwange, and Victoria Falls, connecting diverse regional conservation approaches.

A shared KAZA visa system permits travelers to move between Zambia and Zimbabwe sections of the conservation area without additional border procedures.

The area maintains a population of 250,000 elephants, which move freely through established natural corridors connecting different sections of the territory.
