Laguna Trupán, Artificial lake in Trupán Bajo, Chile
The Laguna Trupán features a waterway system connected to the Zañartu canal, gathering waters from the former Trupán River and Estero Manco.
The construction of a railway embankment in 1911 increased the water level of Laguna Trupán, creating new habitats for local wildlife.
The lake reached its peak of social importance around 1950 with the establishment of an inn and dock for community gatherings.
Located 12 kilometers from Huépil, visitors can access the lake through a paved road and enjoy activities like kayaking and paddle boarding.
The surface area of Laguna Trupán has decreased by one-third due to sediment accumulation from the Zañartu canal over several decades.
