Laguna Trupán

Laguna Trupán is an artificial lake in the Trupán Bajo area fed by a canal system that gathers water from multiple sources. The body of water features distinct coves and shoreline sections that extend across a wide expanse.

The project came about in the early 1900s when a railway embankment was constructed that raised the water level and created new habitats. The lake later became important to the local community when facilities such as docks were established around 1950.

The lake serves as a gathering place where local families come to fish in quiet coves or spend weekends picnicking by the water. It holds a simple, everyday importance for nearby communities who use it as a natural escape.

The lake is located a short distance from the nearest town and is accessible by a paved road that is relatively easy to find. Visitors should keep in mind that water conditions vary by season, so it is good to check the site beforehand.

The lake gradually loses size as sediment and silt accumulate from the canal system over many decades. This quiet natural process subtly reshapes the water body in ways that are not immediately obvious to most visitors.
