Viña Santa Rita, Historical vineyard in Buin, Chile
Viña Santa Rita is a vineyard at the foothills of Alto Jahuel with extensive plantings of different grape varieties across its land. The property includes historic buildings, museum spaces, and wine production facilities that make up a large estate.
The vineyard was founded in 1880 by Don Domingo Fernández Concha and introduced French grape varieties to the region. It became a key center of Chilean wine production and shaped local agriculture for generations.
The Andean Museum on the property displays objects from Pre-Colombian times, including collections from Rapa Nui, Diaguitas, and Mapuche peoples. Visitors can see traditional crafts and artistic styles from these cultures.
The estate is easy to access and offers guided tours through the wine production areas and museum. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes since the grounds are extensive and there is much to explore on foot.
The property houses a Neo-Gothic chapel with distinctive architectural features and Roman-inspired baths from the 1800s. A restaurant on the grounds operates in a former refuge where independence fighters stayed in 1818.
