Brunet Castle, Historical mansion in Cerro Castillo, Chile
Brunet Castle is a stone mansion on Cerro Castillo hill in Viña del Mar with multiple levels, large windows, and a central tower. The structure sits on Iberia Street and displays European-influenced architecture from the early 20th century.
Renowned architect Alfredo Azancot originally designed this villa as a residence for the Brunet family. In 1940, Nicolas Yarur acquired the property and commissioned renovations, after which it later served an official purpose.
The residence has served as a symbol of European architectural influence in the region and draws visitors interested in early 20th-century villas. Its presence shapes the character of the Cerro Castillo neighborhood with a stone exterior that stands apart from surrounding structures.
The best way to reach the castle is by local transportation services connecting to the Cerro Castillo neighborhood. The building sits at elevation on Iberia Street and is easy to spot from a distance, which makes finding it straightforward.
In 1945, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs took over the property as a summer residence, transforming it from a private villa into an official government facility. This conversion reflects the important political role the building came to play in the 20th century.
