The stone church exhibits Romanesque Revival architecture with rounded arches and stands at the intersection of Alvares Street and Plaza Eduardo Grove.
The original chapel, built in 1871 by Dolores Pérez, was replaced after the 1906 earthquake with the current structure designed by Emilio Jecquier.
The church holds the baptismal font where Saint Alberto Hurtado received his first sacrament on January 23, 1901.
The church serves Catholic communities from Viña del Mar, Concón, El Salto, and Peñablanca, with regular services at Alvares 662.
