Hotel O'Higgins

Hotel O'Higgins is an art deco building in central Viña del Mar with a distinctive facade facing Plaza Latorre. The structure spans multiple floors and houses numerous rooms alongside spaces designed for meetings and events.

Construction started in 1931 by architects Vicente Collovich, Fernando Silva, and Arnaldo Barison, with the building welcoming its first guests in 1936. This timing placed it at the beginning of Viña del Mar's growth as a major tourist destination.

The building served for decades as the main gathering place for musicians performing at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival. This role shaped it into a hub where artists and their stories became woven into the local cultural landscape.

The building sits in a central location with easy access to main squares and attractions around the city. Visitors should note that the property remains operational and occasionally hosts private functions and events.

During the 2022 forest fires, the building opened as an emergency shelter for residents forced to flee their homes. This unexpected role showed how the historic structure served the community in times of crisis.
