Northeastern zone of Santiago de Chile, Metropolitan district in Santiago, Chile
The northeastern zone of Santiago is a residential district composed of six communes: Lo Barnechea, Vitacura, Las Condes, Providencia, La Reina, and Ñuñoa. Together, these areas form a large, connected residential district stretching across the city's eastern side.
The area developed as Santiago expanded eastward, transforming agricultural land into a major residential zone. This shift established the northeast as a center for higher-income families and shaped its identity that remains today.
The area reflects Spanish colonial heritage through its street names and public spaces that shape the neighborhood's character today. Residents maintain these traditions in daily life, from the architecture of their homes to local celebrations.
Avenida Providencia and Avenida Apoquindo serve as main transportation axes connecting all parts of the district and making movement between communes easy. Both public transport and private vehicles work well for exploring the entire zone.
Sanhattan, a financial hub where Las Condes, Providencia, and Vitacura meet, clusters modern office towers and business facilities in one compact area. This economic center has grown into one of the country's most important business destinations.
