The cultural center opened its doors in 1993 as part of Spain's international cooperation network, establishing a venue for cultural exchange between Chile and Spain.
The center runs the Residencias Expandidas program, connecting artists with the Museum of Contemporary Art through research and creative projects lasting 3 to 6 months.
Artists can access technical support, equipment, workspace, and financial assistance during their residency periods, with specific support available for mothers in selected companies.
The residency program extends to Puerto Williams, the southernmost city in the world, where artists create within the Cape Horn Biosphere Reserve natural environment.
