Museo de Los Tajamares, Historical museum in Providencia, Chile.
The museum contains preserved brick walls and structural elements discovered during the Santiago Metro Line 1 extension excavations in 1977.
The Tajamares were defensive walls constructed in 1792 along the Mapocho River to protect Santiago from floods and extended from Balmaceda Park to Cal y Canto Bridge.
The museum building represents the preservation efforts of local engineering heritage, displaying original sections of the 18th-century flood control infrastructure.
The museum closed to visitors in 2003 due to water infiltration issues and remains inactive while awaiting renovation projects by the Municipality of Providencia.
In 2019, municipal authorities covered the museum structure with sand to protect it from damage during frequent street demonstrations in the area.
