Totoralillo, Coastal village in Coquimbo Region, Chile.
Totoralillo is a coastal village in the Coquimbo Region stretching across two kilometers of white sand beaches divided by a small peninsula. Turquoise waters contrast against rocky formations along this section of the Pacific coast.
The village developed from a traditional fishing community where inhabitants established livelihoods through harvesting seafood from Pacific waters. This maritime foundation shaped the settlement from its origins.
Local fishing families operate food stands serving regional specialties like crab empanadas, seafood broths, and fresh ceviche prepared from the daily catch. This food culture reflects how closely the village connects to the sea.
The village is accessible via Route 5 Panamericana, with the Totoralillo exit located about 16 kilometers north of the Guanaqueros junction. Note that the two beach areas offer different conditions depending on what you plan to do.
The peninsula divides the bay into two distinct areas: one side offers calm waters for swimming while the other side has strong waves for surfing. This natural division makes the place suitable for different water activities at the same location.
