Curahuasi District

Curahuasi District spans across 817 square kilometers of varied terrain at an elevation of 2,688 meters in the Apurímac region of Peru.

The district, established on January 2, 1857, developed from indigenous settlements into an administrative center that connects the regions of Cusco and Apurímac.

The population maintains strong Quechua traditions, with nearly 74 percent of residents speaking Quechua as their first language according to the 2007 census.

Travelers can reach Curahuasi through regular bus services connecting to major cities, while the district operates under the UTC-5 time zone.

The district contains several mountain peaks, including Q'illu Q'asa reaching 4,600 meters, and experiences temperature variations from 7°C in July to 24°C in November.
