The Quyllur archaeological site stands at an elevation of 2,970 meters on a mountain near Lake San Nicolas in the Namora District.
The Peruvian government officially designated Quyllur as a National Cultural Heritage site through Resolution 284 on April 16, 2004.
The name Quyllur originates from the Quechua language meaning star, reflecting the indigenous linguistic heritage of the Cajamarca region.
Visitors need to prepare for varying climate conditions and limited infrastructure when exploring the stone structures and artifacts at this mountain location.
The archaeological site contains remnants of pre-Columbian societies that established settlements at high altitudes in the Andean mountains.
