The Layzon archaeological complex extends over 107,962 square meters with a perimeter of 1,444 meters in the Cajamarca highlands.
The main pyramid at Layzon dates from the Late Huacaloma period, following the Early Horizon phase of pre-Columbian Peruvian civilization.
The Ministry of Culture of Peru designated Layzon as National Cultural Heritage through Resolution N°19-2015-VMPCIC-MC for its architectural features.
The Decentralized Directorate of Culture in Cajamarca maintains the site and conducts regular protection activities to preserve its structures.
The archaeological remains at Layzon contain specific architectural elements that demonstrate the engineering capabilities of ancient Andean societies.
