Ariston Club, International Style historical building in Mar del Plata, Argentina
The Ariston Club features a concrete double clover shape floating on four pillars, with wave-shaped glass panels surrounding its perimeter.
Built in 1948 under Marcel Breuer's direction, the structure served as a restaurant and social club during the 1950s before falling into disuse in 1993.
The building represents the Modern Movement in Argentina, incorporating four of Le Corbusier's architectural principles: pilotis, free floor plan, free facade, and horizontal windows.
Located at Calle 439 numero 100, the structure received National Historical Monument status in 2019, leading to new preservation initiatives.
The architects used regional materials including volcanic lava tiles to reduce weight, while maintaining maximum visibility through continuous window panels.
