Faena Hotel+Universe, hotel in Buenos Aires
The Faena Hotel+Universe is a hotel in Puerto Madero housed in a former grain warehouse made of imported brick. The building features 87 rooms including 21 suites, restaurants, a spa with steam room and sauna, an outdoor pool with red loungers and a gold crown fountain, plus bars and an art gallery.
The building was originally a grain warehouse storing goods for the port before being transformed into a modern hotel by designer Philippe Starck in the early 2000s. This conversion was part of a larger revitalization of Puerto Madero that turned the old port area into a lively residential and entertainment district.
The name Faena refers to a traditional working method in Argentine agriculture and livestock raising, reflecting how the hotel honors local culture. The spaces are filled with works by Argentine artists, and tango and cabaret performances happen regularly, allowing visitors to experience the city's artistic traditions directly.
The hotel sits conveniently 20 to 40 minutes by car from the airport and is easily reached by public transport. It offers 24-hour front desk, parking options, bicycles for exploring, pet-friendly rooms up to 6 kilograms, and babysitting service, making it accessible for different types of travelers.
The hotel was designed by famous designer Philippe Starck, who filled it with bold red decor, velvet furniture, and unexpected details like mounted unicorn heads in one of the restaurants. The spaces intentionally mix artistic eccentricity with modern comfort in a way that sets it clearly apart from typical hotels.
