Valle Hermoso, human settlement in Argentina
Valle Hermoso is a small town in Córdoba Province, Argentina, located in the Punilla region at around 891 meters elevation. The settlement spreads across green hills with simple buildings and rivers running through it, offering cool clear water for swimming and relaxation.
Valle Hermoso began around 1573 during Spanish exploration when early settlers built homes and a chapel dedicated to Saint Anthony. The town later took shape through Antonio Marcuzzi's efforts from 1921 onward, when he modernized the settlement and attracted visitors.
Valle Hermoso received its name in 1921 when Antonio Marcuzzi called it the Beautiful Valley. The community celebrates Saint Anthony's feast on June 13, when locals gather for prayer, traditional food, and music that bring the quiet town to life.
Reach the town by bus or car from Córdoba, about 80 kilometers away via Route E 53 and Camino del Cuadrado road. Once there, walking is easy for exploring, and small buses or taxis are available for getting around between attractions.
A notable feature is the Gruta de Santa Teresa, a small cave on a hillside that a local husband built as a prayer site for his wife Teresa Morini. This quiet personal monument reveals local history in an unexpected way.
