Estádio Presidente Vargas, Football stadium in Santa Maria, Brazil
The Presidente Vargas Stadium features a natural grass field measuring 105 by 68 meters and currently accommodates 6,554 spectators for sporting events.
Inaugurated on September 21, 1947, the stadium's first match resulted in a 4-0 victory for visiting team Riograndense against Internacional-SM.
The stadium, known locally as Baixada Melancólica, serves as the home ground for Esporte Clube Internacional and hosts regular football matches throughout the season.
Following a fire department inspection in 2013, the stadium's capacity was reduced from 12,000 to 6,554 seats to meet safety requirements.
Since 2013, the stadium has shared its facilities with the Santa Maria Soldiers American football team through a special agreement.
