Llullaillaco National Park

The national park spans 2,687 square kilometers of semi-desert plains and mountain ranges, reaching elevations over 6,700 meters at Llullaillaco volcano.

Scientists discovered three preserved Incan mummies at the summit of Llullaillaco volcano, indicating significant pre-Hispanic settlements in this area.

The park contains sections of the ancient Inca road system in the Rio Frio area, demonstrating the historical connection between mountain communities.

Access to the park requires official permission from CONAF, and visitors must inform authorities about their planned routes due to the presence of mine fields.

The park houses 126 plant species adapted to extreme conditions, including 21 varieties found exclusively in this high-altitude environment.
