The Palácio das Hortênsias features Portuguese architectural elements, with stone walls and decorative details transported from Porto Alegre to Canela in 1981.
The palace construction began in 1952 after World War II delayed the initial 1939 plans, with local citizens and merchants contributing to its development.
This official summer residence of Rio Grande do Sul's governor stands as a representation of the state's political heritage within the Serra Gaúcha region.
Located at 915 José Luiz Corrêa Pinto Avenue in Canela, the palace grounds include 14 hectares of land with parking facilities for visitors.
The current palace structure was carefully dismantled from its original location in Porto Alegre, with each stone numbered before reconstruction in Canela.
