Cristalino State Park, State park in northern Mato Grosso, Brazil.
Cristalino State Park is a protected area in northern Mato Grosso that spans between the Teles Pires River and Para state boundaries. The landscape includes seasonal forests that give way to tropical rainforest regions across its vast territory.
The Brazilian government established this protected area in 2000 to safeguard native species and their ecosystems from deforestation. The park was expanded in subsequent years to include additional forest regions and wildlife corridors.
The protected area includes natural formations that sustain 850 bird species, 43 reptile species, and 36 mammal species in their natural habitats.
The best time to visit is between May and October when conditions are drier and more comfortable. Visitors should prepare for uneven terrain and bring proper footwear, as exploring the different forest regions requires hiking over varied landscape.
Serra Rochedo within the park contains numerous water springs that feed clear streams throughout the landscape. These natural springs create visible waterways that visitors can spot while moving through the forest regions.
