Matobo Hills, Mountain range and UNESCO World Heritage Site in Bulawayo region, Zimbabwe
The Matobo Hills contain thousands of granite formations with smooth surfaces and scattered boulders spread across the valleys of southern Zimbabwe.
The region became Zimbabwe's first national park in 1926 through Cecil Rhodes, who chose the summit of Malindidzimu as his burial location.
The San people created more than 3,000 documented rock art sites throughout the hills, depicting their daily activities and spiritual ceremonies.
Visitors can access the hills via road from Bulawayo, with guided tours available for viewing wildlife, rock art, and geological formations.
The hills support the highest concentration of black eagles worldwide and maintain a substantial population of both black and white rhinoceros.
