Benjamin William Mkapa Pension Tower

The Benjamin William Mkapa Pension Tower is a 21-story high-rise situated on Azikiwe Street in Dar es Salaam. It houses retail spaces and commercial offices dedicated to pension administration and related services.

The project started as a construction site but halted for five years due to funding shortages. The National Social Security Fund later acquired and completed the structure in 2004.

The tower carries two names reflecting Tanzania's dual linguistic identity. Locally it is also known as Mafuta House, a Swahili designation that speaks to how the building exists within the country's cultural fabric.

The structure sits in the Kivukoni district, making it accessible in the city center. Since it functions as a commercial property, visitors should check access rules and hours for retail and office areas.

The tower rose from an abandoned construction project left inactive for years before being revived. This makes it a notable example of infrastructure renewal in modern Dar es Salaam.
