Kisumu Museum

Kisumu Museum is a regional museum in Kisumu that occupies about ten acres and presents the culture of Western Kenya. Buildings and outdoor pavilions display the region's flora, fauna, and cultural artifacts with comprehensive collections.

The museum was founded in 1980 to collect and preserve artifacts documenting the migration patterns of Western Kenya. These collections reflect the cultural development of the region's communities.

The museum displays a complete Luo homestead with traditional houses, livestock areas, and granaries that show how the community lived. Visitors can observe the layout and design of these structures as they were used daily.

The museum is easy to reach and has various pavilions and outdoor spaces with clear paths for visitors. Good walking shoes are practical since you will spend time on natural surfaces and outdoors.

The museum maintains aquariums with live native snake species, including venomous ones, and various fish from Lake Victoria. These living exhibits give visitors a direct view of the local wildlife.
