Menengai

The Menengai caldera extends 12 kilometers in width and 8 kilometers in length, reaching an elevation of 2,278 meters above sea level.

The formation of this massive volcanic structure began 200,000 years ago, with the primary caldera emerging through substantial eruptions 8,000 years ago.

Local communities maintain several caves within the caldera as prayer spaces, accommodating up to 1,000 people for spiritual gatherings and meditation.

The northeast route provides the most accessible path to the summit, with regular bus services connecting from the nearby city of Nakuru.

The caldera floor contains over 70 successive lava flows, with some formations dating back only 100 years, demonstrating ongoing volcanic activity.
