Air Terjun Cibeureum

Air Terjun Cibeureum is a three-tiered waterfall system with cascades dropping between 40 to 50 meters, located at approximately 1,675 meters elevation in Mount Gede Pangrango National Park. The main fall is notably wider than its companion falls, creating a striking visual arrangement as water flows through the jungle setting.

The waterfall derives its name from the Sundanese language and has been a recognizable feature of the mountain region for centuries. Its location within what became Mount Gede Pangrango National Park reflects the area's importance as a natural landmark and water source for surrounding communities.

The name comes from the Sundanese language and refers to the reddish moss covering the rock walls. This natural feature shapes how locals and visitors perceive the waterfall when they approach it.

Reaching the waterfall requires a walk of approximately 3 kilometers from the national park entrance through Cibodas Botanical Garden, so sturdy footwear is essential. The paths can become slippery after rain, so visitors should proceed carefully, especially on steeper sections and near water areas.

Local legend tells of a powerful hermit who meditated so deeply that he transformed into the large stone formation visible in the waterfall's center. This story adds a spiritual layer to the site that visitors often discover while watching the water flow around the rock.
