Wayang-Windu, Active volcano in West Java, Indonesia
The Wayang-Windu mountain complex consists of two connected volcanic peaks reaching an elevation of 2,182 meters above sea level in the Bandung region.
The volcanic formation has shaped the landscape over millennia, creating a natural boundary that separates the northern and southern river systems of Java island.
Local residents maintain traditional ceremonies throughout the year, incorporating elements from both Islamic practices and ancient mountain worship traditions.
Visitors can reach the volcano through the town of Pangalengan, with the dry season from May to September offering the most suitable conditions for exploration.
The mountain houses four distinct groups of fumaroles within its 750-meter-wide crescentic crater, supporting one of Indonesia's largest geothermal energy facilities.
