Jambi University, academic publisher
Jambi University is a public institution in Jambi City with modern buildings spread across a large campus where students gather and study. The grounds contain faculties of education, law, economics, agriculture, health sciences, and engineering, plus libraries, laboratories, computer centers, health clinics, and sports facilities that serve the student body.
The institution started as a small business academy in 1960 and was officially established as a university in 1963 with four initial faculties covering economics, law, agriculture, and animal husbandry. It adopted its current name in 1966 and has continued to grow by adding new faculties and academic programs over the decades.
Jambi University brings together students from the surrounding region and serves as a meeting point where ideas are shared across different fields of study. The campus hosts regular gatherings where people from various faculties connect and learn from one another beyond the classroom.
The campus is accessible by public transportation and shuttle services from the city center and sits along a main road. Free wireless internet is available throughout the campus, along with dormitories, canteens at each faculty, ATMs, a health clinic, and 24-hour security staff.
The university operates its own open-access publisher that makes research and academic work from students and faculty available globally online. This initiative allows local researchers to share their findings with audiences around the world.
