Gunung Klotok, Mountain in East Java, Indonesia
Gunung Klotok is a mountain in East Java that rises about 536 meters above sea level near the base of Gunung Wilis. It serves as a natural dividing line between Kediri city and the surrounding Kediri Regency.
The mountain contains three significant caves - Goa Selomangleng, Goa Selobale, and Goa Padedean - that have been woven into the local story for many generations. These caverns represent an ancient layer of human connection to the landscape.
The name combines 'Kolo' meaning danger with 'Tok' meaning just, reflecting how locals perceive this place. People here call it Si Cantik Tidur because of how the ridge line resembles a sleeping woman's profile.
Two main hiking trails lead to the summit, with the gentler ridge route taking roughly 1 to 2 hours and splitting at Post 1 Proliman. From this junction, you can choose to head toward either Puncak Klop or Puncak Watu Bengkah depending on your preference.
The Puncak Watu Bengkah peak functions as a ceremonial ground where the Indonesian flag is raised during Independence Day observances. This makes it a place where national pride and community gather in a single moment.
