Bond University, Private university in Gold Coast, Australia
Bond University is a private higher education institution in Gold Coast, Queensland. The site extends over 50 hectares (around 124 acres) and includes modern teaching buildings, research centers, sports facilities, and student accommodation.
The institution was established in 1987 through the initiative of entrepreneur Alan Bond and is considered the first private nonprofit university in Australia. Since its founding, it has offered shorter study times through a system with three enrollment periods per year.
The name recalls the Australian businessman who founded the institution, while the grounds now bring together learners from more than 90 countries. Students exchange ideas in small groups and use the many open spaces for work or shared breaks between seminars.
Access to the grounds is possible for visitors during daytime hours, with the main gate and reception points offering orientation. Most buildings are designed to be accessible, allowing guests with limited mobility to move around without major obstacles.
The institution uses a trimester system with course starts in January, May, and September, allowing graduates to earn their degrees more rapidly. The ratio of ten students to one faculty member enables direct exchange and support in almost every teaching session.
