Isle of Capri, Queensland, Residential island in Gold Coast, Australia
Isle of Capri is a residential island along the Nerang River loop, connecting the districts of Bundall and Surfers Paradise. The area spreads with multiple waterways and most homes are positioned directly on the water for boat access.
During the late 1800s and early 1900s, the land served as agricultural grounds for the neighboring Benowa Sugar Mill. Modern residential development arrived in the 1950s when Italian investors transformed the area into a planned community.
The area takes its name from the Mediterranean island of Capri, chosen by Italian-Australian developer Efim Zola during the 1950s. This European heritage appears in the local architecture and the waterfront lifestyle that residents maintain today.
The Capri shopping center on Via Roma offers access to gourmet stores, supermarkets, boutiques, and waterfront restaurants. Most of the area is flat and easy to walk through, while direct boat moorings make it convenient for water enthusiasts.
The area is known for some of the largest riverside properties on the Gold Coast, where residents can access boats almost directly from their backyards. This immediate water connection makes it a favorite spot for boat owners and people who enjoy water activities.
