Palings Building, Heritage listed building in Brisbane, Australia
The Palings Building stands at 86 Queen Street in Brisbane, featuring three floors, a basement, and brick construction with stone foundations.
Built in 1885 as part of four identical buildings, the structure was purchased by William Henry Paling in 1886 and operated as a music store from 1888.
The building served as Queensland's primary destination for musical instruments, sheet music, and records throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Located in Brisbane's central business district, the building stands near the old Brisbane Town Hall and remains protected under heritage legislation.
From 1914 to 1974, the building housed Brisbane's main theatre booking service while its piano tuners traveled across the region offering recitals.
