Great American Tower

The Great American Tower is an office building in Uptown Phoenix with an eight-sided shape and distinctive exterior columns. The tower rises over 24 floors with around 338,000 square feet of office space and 8 elevators serving different tenants.

The building was completed in 1985 as a modern office center for downtown Phoenix. Post Modern architecture was a new approach at the time to design tall buildings differently from the plain glass structures of earlier decades.

The building shows the Post Modern style of the 1980s through its angular forms and systematic cuts at the corners. When you stand in front of it, this architectural approach stands out immediately and looks quite different from older buildings nearby.

The building sits on Central Avenue and is easy to spot because of its distinctive eight-sided shape with cut-off corners. Visitors should know that this is a private office building, so access to the interior may be limited depending on business hours.

The top floor of the tower is smaller than the lower levels and has a continuous balcony running all around the building. From this balcony, visitors can enjoy wide views across Phoenix and the surrounding desert landscape.
