Bonita Canyon Campground, Historic campground in Chiricahua National Monument, Arizona, United States
Bonita Canyon Campground is a camping facility nestled within a narrow canyon in Chiricahua National Monument, Arizona. The site sits at about 5,400 feet in elevation and is surrounded by dramatic volcanic rock formations and evergreen trees.
The area became part of the Faraway Ranch Historic District, which developed during early territorial settlement in southeastern Arizona in the 1880s. The organized campground was later established to accommodate visitors to the monument.
The camping area integrates with the protected landscapes of Chiricahua National Monument, preserving both natural formations and Native American heritage sites.
The camping area has 25 individual sites suitable for smaller recreational vehicles up to about 29 feet in length. Each spot includes a picnic table and a storage box for keeping food secure.
Black bears, mountain lions, and occasionally jaguars inhabit the surrounding wilderness areas near this campground. Visitors need to follow strict food storage rules to avoid attracting these large predators.
