Green Valley Lake, Waterbody in Gila County, Arizona
Green Valley Lake is a reservoir in Payson, Arizona, made up of three connected ponds covering about 13 acres of water. The park features paved trails extending nearly four miles, wooden piers, shaded picnic areas with pavilions, and accessible restrooms throughout the grounds.
The lake was created in 2000 as part of Arizona's Urban Fishing Program. Since then, it has been regularly stocked with fish to provide recreational fishing opportunities for the public.
The lake serves Payson as a community gathering place where people spend time outdoors with family and friends. The well-maintained paths and picnic areas reflect how locals use this space as part of their everyday life.
The grounds are fully accessible with paved paths and piers meeting ADA standards throughout the park. Early morning hours are best for trout fishing, as the fish are most active after the regular restocking occurs from mid-October through early May.
Only electric-powered boats are permitted on the water, keeping the lake peaceful and safe for families. Kayakers and canoeists find quiet conditions ideal for exploring the three ponds without noise or disruption.
